Internships at Corumbene

An internship is a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student’s field of study or career interest. Chief Operating Officer Julie Purves said, “UTAS previously supplied Corumbene with interns for the finance team. On this occasion however, our intern Manpreet, was supplied by ICT student placement specialist, Indus Institute.”

Colette Machin from Corumbene’s HR team looks after Learning & Development and ICT. Colette mentored Manpreet, sharing her skills and knowledge two days a week over a 10-week period.

Grateful for the experience and support, Manpreet said, “I really enjoyed my internship. All the staff are very cooperative. I gained experience with networking, hardware, data entry, passwords and security. Your support and advice will help me to reach where I want to be. Thank you for the opportunity.”

Corumbene also works with TasTAFE to provide work placements and internships across the organisation. These opportunities allow students to receive hands-on experience and understand the Aged and Community Care sectors. For Corumbene, it is also a chance to learn from the students.
