Derwent Valley Senior Citizen of the Year 2024 awarded to Corumbene Auxiliary President Irene Barnes
Very exciting news!
President of the Corumbene Auxiliary, Irene Barnes, has been awarded Derwent Valley Senior Citizen of the Year 2024, in the Australia Day Awards.
“There were a lot of great nominations this year and all nominees share a common theme; a commitment to give back and support their community,” Mayor Michelle Dracoulis said.
Irene has been a volunteer with the Corumbene Auxiliary for 15 years, including President for the past 12 years. She has been a visionary of the Auxiliary, and was instrumental with the Tree of Life artwork, and The Chapel, at Corumbene Residential Care.
Irene is an inspiration to many. She gives freely of her time and is very caring and thoughtful.
Congratulations Irene! Thank you for your commitment, energy, and joy that you bring to Corumbene.
