COVID-19 UPDATE as at 9th JAN 2024

Unfortunately a number of residents have tested positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, requiring us to declare an outbreak which at this stage is restricted to Hermitage only.  This means that restrictions can be localised to that street – with residents in that area isolating in their rooms and staff providing direct care in Hermitage now wearing specific PPE (N95 mask and goggles).

Staff have conducted rapid antigen testing for all residents in Hermitage as well as known close contacts, and positive cases have been isolated. In accordance with current Public Health advice, residents who have not tested positive, including close contacts, can continue to move about within the facility and leave the facility if desired.

All staff and visitors within the Nursing Home are asked to commence using face masks – N95 masks in Hermitage and surgical masks in the remainder of the facility. Clinical care staff can advise on precautionary measures including the use of masks which is encouraged (particularly for residents who are not fully vaccinated) to protect residents and families.

Meals will continue to be provided in dining rooms or by tray service, and the Linkway Café will remain open, however large group activities will be discouraged until further notice. We have notified Public Health authorities and will be arranging for further testing as required in the coming days, and we will keep you informed of any developments.

Thank you in anticipation for your understanding and support as we work to manage this latest outbreak with minimal disruption.
